Paying Rent The Association lets its properties on weekly tenancies. This means that rent is due each Monday in advance. The only exceptions to this are some of our older tenancies (mostly pre-1994) that were let on either four-weekly or fortnightly tenancies. These tenants are obliged to ensure that their rent is paid either four weeks or two weeks in advance. Rent is payable in advance on the Monday of the week in which it is due. There are several ways of paying: At the Post Office: When you become one of our tenants you will receive an Alliance & Leicester Bank swipe card. You can pay your rent at any Post Office using this card. At present the Association meets the cost of the charges made by Alliance & Leicester for payments made over the Post Office counter. You should therefore not be asked to pay any fee. Please note that if you make a payment in a Post Office towards the end of the week it may not reach us until the following week. This means that you may end up with arrears showing on your rent account.
By standing order from your bank account or Giro account: Many tenants with bank accounts now find it more convenient to pay their rent by standing order. Ask us for a form. If you cancel your standing order you must let us know.
By Post: We would recommend that you do not send cash through the post. Cheques should be crossed and made payable to Cornwall Rural Housing Association Ltd., and you should write your name and address on the back of the cheque. If you are not sure about any aspect of your rent or if you have any difficulties with payments, please contact the Association.
