Cornwall Rural Housing Association Cornwall Rural Housing Association (CRHA) is a charitable housing association registered under the Industrial and Provident Societies Acts 1965 to 1978. CRHA was formed in 1985 with the specific aim of building houses for rent in the rural areas of Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. The houses are let to local people in housing need. The Association is run by a voluntary Board of Management comprising of people with a wide variety of experience in different fields. The Board meets approximately every two months to decide policy and monitor progress. Click here to find out who is on our Board of Management. CRHA employs three full-time staff - the Director, Finance Officer and Housing Officer - and a part-time Clerical Officer. All staff work from our offices located near to Bodmin Parkway Station. The Director has overall responsibility for the day to day affairs of the Association. Funding was obtained from The Tudor Trust, Cornwall County Council and DEFRA for a two year project to promote the development of Community Land Trusts in Cornwall and the Cornwall Community Land Trust Project ran for two years until April 2008. We are grateful to The Tudor Trust for giving a further grant to help us to continue employing our Community Land Trust Project Manager to provide services to the newly established Cornwall Community Land Trust. Funding for new developments is provided by way of capital grants from the Housing Corporation and local authorities which are supplemented by loans raised from financial institutions. These loans are repaid from our rental income, which also has to meet the costs of maintaining and managing the properties. The Housing Corporation also monitors the work of the Association to ensure that we are meeting the standards expected of an organisation in receipt of public funds. Since its formation CRHA has completed 36 developments in village locations ranging in size from 1 property up to 12. The Association currently has 239 homes in management and the following homes under construction:
The Association is committed to providing good quality rented accommodation that complements the areas in which it works. Its success in meeting this commitment is reflected in the various awards that have been received for the following developments:
